Train up your child

Scripture reading:

#1 - It's your responsibility as a parent to train your child.

Most parents have transferred their obligation to train up their children in the godly ways over to Sunday school/ children's ministry and other people of influence such as teachers. In the book of Deuteronomy 6 God is teaching His people and leaves the responsibility with the parents to teach their children in the commands, statutes and judgements. It is therefore clear what the expectations of God are, for us as parents to train our children.

#2 - Who are you raising your child for.

What we don't realise is that our children don't stay children, but are growing up fast. Your child will some day have to move out into the world and experience different challenges. He or she might become a mother or father, a leader/ head of a family one day. But the question remains if that child was trained up well, prepare for the future. What we don't realise as parents sometimes is the fact that your not raising a child for yourselves, but for someone else.

"What we don't realise is that our children don't stay children, but are growing up fast "

#3 - The danger of an untrained child.

An untrained child has the potential to become an untrained adult. An untrained adult might become an untrained husband and father. An untrained adult might become an untrained employee and so an untrained citizens of this country. This leaves us in great danger. Therefore please train a child in the statutes, commands and judgements of God.

Training is beneficial, for when they get old, they will not depart from from these ways trained on.
